Fredj Ben Bdira is a protein scientist based in Leiden, the Netherlands. He holds a PhD from Leiden University and worked in academic research for over a decade before founding ProLigand NEXUS in 2022.
His research background spans structural biology and biochemistry, including carbohydrate-active enzymes, bacteriophage and H-NS biology, membrane-protein mass spectrometry, and Gaucher disease. He publishes as Ben Bdira F.
Before ProLigand NEXUS he was a postdoctoral fellow at Leiden University (2018–2022), a graduate researcher at Leiden University (2014–2018), and a researcher at CIC bioGUNE in Bilbao (2011–2013).
Why this company exists
A fabricated citation fails the moment anyone checks it. The costly failure is quieter: a real, correctly formatted, unretracted paper attached to a claim it does not support. ProLigand MATRIX was built to find that — and to state clearly what it could not verify, rather than leaving silence to read as a clean result.
